I will be angry, disgusted, and disappointed! I'm hoping JKR does leave an opening at the end of the book so that someone else can continue the stories. I think it's selfish to decide to end it by making sure no one else can continue. Two other classic series were almost ended by their authors; the Land of Oz books (there were 14 of those) and the Sherlock Holmes stories. The authors got sick of them and wanted to "move on". They finally figured out their readers' love of the stories took the decision out of their hands. If JKR doesn't return to Harry Potter later, she should allow other writers to do it for her. Maybe if we start a huge letter-writing campaign...

i might mourn but eventually I'd get over it the writer has stated she wants to move on to other projects and quite frankly none of her other projects will get any notice at all while shes continuing the potter series or it will be continuously compared to harry no matter what genre her next series may be in...so my prediction is harry will die , i'll live and rowling will write under a pseudonym for books to come

I will die. Right there. I was in mourning for about a month after Dumbeldore died. My husband was overseas and I phoned him right after I read the last book... sobbing my eyes out, I could not speak to him for the first few seconds... He thought somebody in the family died... kept on going "What is wrong? Tell me!" I told him and he could not stop laughing while I was crying on the other end...

I'm indifferent. If he dies, he dies. That's the author's ability with characters. You can create them...and then if you feel like it you can also make them die.

*shrug*

I don't think it's in the interest of the reader to get worked up about a fictional character. There are other books. And you can always re-read the series.

Read another book or series that makes Harry seem like the idiot he is already.

I will write book 8, and revive Harry Potter... so sad and is not acceptable to see him die... why good man die young? So sad indeed.
