Even a daycare only charges about $2.50 per hour per child. If you only watch the child for 2 hours a week then $10 should be fair, but more hours than that I would go for the hourly rate.

what's your age? Do you have any experience as a babysitter?
Do you know First Aid and CPR? Are you in demand by someone else? How long will you have this child? Is it several hours per day, several days a week, or just on occasion, or once a week? Are you dependable? Do you have references?
These are questions that you should be prepared to answer, to the parents. If you're experienced, and in demand, I would charge more. If this is your first job, then less.

I would say $5 an hour if the kid is asleep and up to $10 if they are awake. If you are choosing the rates you should first see how hard the kid is to manage. Also, how hard they are to put to sleep, feed, etc. The costs may go up or down becuase of the kids behavior.
