Area= Lenth X Width

8. Squares have four sides and they are all equal, so its length equals 16 and its width equals 16. 16X16= 256 inches.

9. The area of a 4X4 or 4 by 4 square is 16 (4X4=16). 256/16=16. Therefore you can create 16 combinations that will perfectly fit on your poster.

a square poster board with a side length of 16 inches would be 256 square inches. You could fit 16 4x4 pictures or 4 8x8 pictures on it perfectly. You could also use 1 8x8 and 12 4x4, 2 8x8 and 8 4x4, or 3 8x8 and 4 4x4 pictures.

#8. area is the base times the height.

16 x 16 = 256 square inches

#9. there are many correct answers to this question.
You could have:
16 4x4
4 8x8
3 8x8, 4 4x4
2 8x8, 8 4x4
1 8x8, 12 4x4

I'd suggest take a page from a grid and draw a 16x16 square. cut out 8x8 pieces and 4x4 pieces and see how they fit.

To find the area of a square, you are going to use the formula A = s squared, where A stands for area and s stands for the side length. To find the area of a square with side lengths of 16 inches, all you have to do is put 16 into the equation for s. So square 16 and you should have your area.

The area is 16 at square, so is 256 inchees.
4 by 4 means 16 pictures on your poster. so It's 16 divided by 4 and it is 4 inchees.
Your pictures will be 4 inchees high and 4 inchees long, like little squares!!!

Multiply The Length and the hieght so if it is 16 inches on all sides take two sides and multiple them together which will be 16 X 16 which is 256.
