-2 refers to the babies position, or station, in the pelvis. Doesn't have anything to do with how thin your cervix is.

There are three numbers in a vaginal exam. The first number is the dilitation, is measured in centimeters. The second number, effacement, is how "thinned out" your cervix is, and is measured in percent (100% meaning completely thinned out). The third is the station, which measures how engaged your baby's head is in the pelvis:-3,-2,-1,0, +1,+2,+3...delivered.

I had the exact same thing when I was pregnant with my now 10 month old son.It means that your cervix is very thin so there's a slight chance that you may go into premature labor. I was in bed rest for 4 months. good luck.

Your cervix will get thinner when you are in labor they are checking for dilation and thinning so not sure which one you are really looking for if it is 2 dilation then that is about 2 finger thinning is - 2 is as thin as it will get and is ready for the baby
