I am a licensed cosmetologist, and I would not recommend to get your hair dyed when you're pregnant. No matter how "safe" the color solution might be represented, it is still a chemical; and chemicals are never safe. The permanent color solutions can give an allergic reaction ANY time. Even if you had colored your hair for 20-30 years, one day it can still give an allergic reaction. I have seen this happen. They do not do it in salons for practical reasons, but every licensed cosmetologist knows - the patch test (allergy test) is the required procedure before EACH color application. Many pregnant women color their hair and seem to be alright afterwords. But by doing so, you are taking a risk.
If the showing roots are not an option, then I would suggest color your hair with henna. It is a natural coloring product with no chemicals in it. Any other products that claim to be "natural", are not, because there are among the natural components, the chemically based ones still present.

I would say no...I'm a Biofeedback Therapist and deal with the effects of chemical exposures all the time. Not a good idea. Chemicals are absorbed through the skin and transfered via the blood stream...same blood the baby gets in utero. Same with the fumes from the chemicals are drawn into the body via the lungs and then into the blood stream.
My DH used to be a hair dresser and he say's absolutely not....it has never truly been ruled out that it is safe. Find a natural source for coloring...

Yes you can color your hair safely, the only thing is you have to remember that your hormones have changed your entire system and what used to work might not now, or you could wind up with totally different results than you've had in the past. But dyes and such are safer nowadays, if you're doing it yourself make sure where you are it's very well ventilated and if you need to take a break once in awhile do so.

Coloring your hair when your pregnant is totally safe and the colors would turn out normal. It's getting a perm that's not a good idea when your pregnant because those chemicals wont work as well in your hair and the curls wont last. I got my hair professionally colored with highlights my whole pregnancy and my hair looked GREAT!

With what I lived, I'd say why not cut them short? Have you ever tried them short? I tried recently and I don't regret it. By the way, while pregnant, many women have greater hair but after delivery it's another thing! Also, this little bundly of joy will have a lot of fun playing with long hair, ouch!
Probably your natural color is the perfect one for you! Go natural!

I worked for a hairstylist who said it was okay and I also checked with another hairstylist and my doctor and they both said it was okay. Basically it is just uncomfortable. Some people might be affected by the fumes since their sence of smell is much more acute. Others might encounter nausea. I did a DIY color when I was pregnant so I had to kneel over the tub to rinse and it got quite uncomfortable toward the end.

Yes it's definitely okay to dye your hair while pregnant, how do i know because i did it all four times when i was pregnant with all four of my children, so it's not going to hurt a thing by dying your hair at all.

I personally wouldn't do it. I wanted to die my hair so bad to when I was pregnant but I held out. The fear of anything happening to my child took over so I didn't do it. Just let everything go all natural and when the baby is born treat yourself to a new do.

I'm glad you asked this question, I am 33 weeks preggers and I need my hair done too really bad. Since I only have 7 weeks to go, I'm just gonna wait it out. Even though mostly everyone on here said it's o.k.
