What everyone has said is correct. The most common irregular rhythms are PVCs and PACs (premature ventricular/atrial contration). It's kind of like when your heart "skips a beat." You could have a lot of PVCs and it wouldn't be a big deal. They would monitor blood pressure and probably use meds to control the heart rate. Not a big thing as long as it is monitored. Unless there is some kind of deformity with the heart. It *could* be serious...

There are many reasons for a irregular heart beat most common is A.F (atrial fibrillation) This means that that your EKG/ECG is basically missing a P wave. Its quite complicated to get into but this can be treated with a low shock, (DC Cadioversion) medication or in other cases pacemaker. Most cases are easily treated but now and again it can be fatal but other problems like acute heart attacts usually are a factor. Hope i helped ya

Irregular heartbeat just means it's not a normal rhythm of beating. BUM-bum. BUM-bum. BUM-bum. <-- that is normal. So anything off of that is irregular.

It can be fatal, or it could be just an oddity. Depends upon whhat kind of rhythm it is. If the beats are too close and too weak, that could trigger a heart attack. If it just skips a beat now and then, or a valve is not closing tightly each beat, it could just be a thing you have to live with.

Not sure if this is miltral valve prolapse which is what I have, but depending on the severity of it, it shouldn't be fatal. That is what my cardiologist told me. I regularly exercise and drink plenty of water. I am 42 and I was diagnosed 21 years ago with it. I haven't had any problems except occasional panic attacks which sometimes it does accompany the disease.

i have an irregular heart beat, and i'm still alive. now for an athlete i think it would just make it alittle harder to work out. what an irregular beat is basically what it says. the heart tends to skip a beat, especially when under stress. now it shouldnt kill you, but sometimes it does mess up your breathing. it is something that scares me alot but its nothing to be really scared about. i just have to watch my diet and excersize and everything should turn out okay. maybe thats what he has to do to.

It is an abnormal heart beat due to irregular firing of electrical impulses to the heart wall muscle.. It is dangerous because it can result in ventricular fibrillation, which could result in heart failure.

I've had it for years. Doc just put me on meds and I'm fine. He did put me on a monitor that I wore for a few weeks but it didn't show anything serious. Sometimes it just happens.

Unfortuneatly, It could be serious, or simple. Hospitals can quite easily find out which. I'm sure he is seeing one of the best cardiologist's around.
