The real question is, how do you validate the measure of "safety" on a plane ride? "Safety" is more of a state of mind than statistics. Would you measure the level of safety solely based on the number of incidents in the future?
Think before you ask questions.

How much safer? If I will survive a plan ride 99.99996% of the time right now, I'm not sure raising that to 99.999969% is worth an extra $5 or 10 minutes.

I think that airport tickets are grossly overpriced, so another $5 isn't going to lighten my mood. However, its not going to break my bank account either. $5 isn't that bad considering the alternatives.
Also, as a employee within an airport, I think that waiting an extra 10 min. is a hassle, but only a small one. It doesn't mess up my schedule that badly. I usually show up early anyway whether I'm going to work or taking a flight somewhere so I don't see the problem.

I don't think anyone would mind paying a little bit more or spending a little more time at the airport if that meant being safer, I mean, what would you pay for your life or that of others? Would 10 or 15 minutes make any difference?

If there are terrorists on the plane or there is bad weather,or there is human error, it'll go down with everyone on it regardless of how much they paid or how long they waited. Sorry to sound so grim. On the other hand, if it's meant to be a safe flight, as the overwhelming majority are, it'll be the same for everyone on board then too.

I'm paying already for a flight and I think its the airline and airport responsability to ensure my safety.
I do think that wait extra 10 minutes is worthy, I rather wait extra 10 minutes than never get to my destination.

properly, even nonetheless i'm a guy, (and you're probable searching for a girl?), i've got been to all 4 Hawaiian Islands, and that i've got been to Key West, (and enjoyed all of them!), and it is each and every so often extreme-high quality to take somebody who's "been there". Plus, i might decide for to circulate to Rome, Paris and Venice!... in spite of the certainty that, surely, I surely have a dream of traveling the vineyards in Italy and the Bordeaux region of France! i like to holiday and that i'm very innovative, (which helps in unfamiliar territory!). i will circulate off the overwhelmed course and spot and journey way better than the person-friendly "Joe" vacationer!

10 min yes.
The $5 no. The plane cannot GUARANTEE me a safter ride. There are no guarantees in life.

It would be faster and cheaper if they would just profile. I know of no 80 year old black or white grandmothers who blow up planes, but there are sure a lot of Muslims blowing or trying to blow them up.

If it means I'm not going to die and/or have my plane taken over by evil terrorists, then, sure, it's worth it.
