I've been wondering the same thing for years. Since every culture has or has had royal families among them at one point or another, I'm sure there have to be at least a few good stories about African princesses out there. I really hope they'll wise up one day soon and realize that little girls of African descent would like to see a Disney movie with a princess that looks like them too.
p.s. - Just a couple of corrections...
- To "sam21462," contrary to popular belief, "The Prince of Egypt" was not a Disney movie. That movie was made by Dreamworks.
- To "dasleepykittie," while "Aladdin" was a Disney movie, the characters were Middle-Eastern, not Egyptian. The story of Aladdin originally came from "The Book of One Thousand and One Nights" (aka - "Arabian Nights").

Considering they produced Bre'r Fox and Zippideedoodah and the like, it might be a while before they leave the likes of Snow White and join us in our century. It's very sad and, frankly, p*sses me off. Disney could get a clue from Dove's "Campaign for Real Beauty" and start giving little girls of all ethnicities a role model.
Oh, princess Jasmine, you say? Voiced by Linda Larkin. The woman's as critically caucasian as I am (check the link if you don't believe me). It's time Disney also *employed* a broader range of ethnicities to portray said princesses.

................i wager you could write in to Disney about it. even with the undeniable fact that it would not remember to me what race a Disney princess is. If i love the plot this is all that concerns. you're saying your mothers and fathers/grandparents can not relate to American way of existence? properly (now to not be impolite) Disney (an American production organization) can not relate to African way of existence. about the stereotypes...lack of information is a decision. Its actual human beings do not understand a lot about Africa (me) yet a standard e book or the internet which anybody is loopy about now can make sparkling that. :) yet to respond to your question certain it may be tremendous to ensure a African princess...or the different raced princess. it may be a great way for toddlers or someone older xD to study something new about yet differently of existence.

I have been asking that question for years. It is time, maybe if enough people wrote a letter or emailed Disney they would make something that can respect African people.
