I don't know the best advice, but I stopped somebody from dropping out of school last year.. He was a senior and he had thoughts of dropping out at the beginning of the school year. I was just a freshman but I knew him because he was my brother's friend. He said he was tired of school and he wanted to work and start getting money. I told him getting a diploma would get him a higher paying job. He said that's what everyone said. Then I told him, "Listen, in the future you're going to look back on your life and wished you finished high school. I know this is going to happen. It happens to everyone. Even if you find a job that doesn't need a diploma, get it first, then go work. Then later on if you want to change, you already have your diploma. It's not too late. You don't have to worry about a GED. Just finish this last year, then do whatever you want. That way, you can change later if you want to."
He took my advice and now he's in the University of Michigan.
