The one that the experiment is performed upon is the experimental subject, or test subject, and the one that is not experimented upon is the control.

the thing that is experimented on is called the test subject and the other one not experimented on , is the control subject.

The "control" is what you call the one that you do everything but the experimental element with. The "experimental" is the one you do everything plus the experimental element with.

control- which is your blank, or the one that isnt tested
experimental- which is being tested
