I have believed for several years that FOOTBALL, not BASEBALL, should be considered America's Past TIme. On Thanksgiving and Christmas Days, FOOTBALL is what everyone gathers around the TV to watch as a family. FOOTBALL is they type of sport you jump around, have fun, yell at the TV and just an all around great time watching. Please limit your answers to FOOTBALL vs BASEBALL. Try to persuade me into giving you 10 pts ;) !!!

It is way past time. Football has the event of the year with the Super Bowl. It is the most popular sport and has passed baseball quite a few years ago. It is also the most bet on sport in Vegas. Their is nothing like the drama a football game possesses. Baseball has lost its luster with all the steroids and all the boom of the homerun since they cancelled the World Series in 94. I believe that is correct. The homerun records will mean nothing without players who have earned the right and I just dont believe that a lot of todays players deserve the records. In football you have well respected players who have done a lot in thier careers . For example Emmitt Smith who was a smaller than average running back who played a very tough position for a very long time. This is just some of th examples i believe in that make Foot ball the best sport.

I only reason why football is more hyped up and more fans show up is because you play once a week and you play a team once not including your division games and your done no three game relay. Yes baseball can get boring at times but yet so does any other sport when lets say the colts are winning 56-0. Now if your watching a game between the stealers and the bengals in the fourth quarter with the score 25-28 which game are you more likely to watch.

Baseball doesn't have a that spark it did when you had several a team slug it out and not worry about drug issues from this player and that player. Baseball is like what 150 games and football is only 16 games. So, each game in football is important as the last because you have no room for mistakes. Baseball you make a mistake so what you still have like 100+ games to go to make that up.

Its like comparing apples to oranges. I like apples but its not like biting into an orange. I like most sports and lets just keep America's past time as it is at baseball.

Football should be the national past time now. Baseball lost many fans when they went on strike, and it doesn't help that baseball players are way over paid. I like both sports, but I can never wait for college football to start up. Every Saturday in the fall is way better than every day in summer with baseball. The NFL is also better than MLB. The fan base of the NFL is now much larger than ever while MLB struggles even with good teams. Like the Florida Marlins for instance, good team this year, but hardly anyone comes out. But then you have the Detroit Lions in the NFL, losing season the past 6 seasons yet every home game is sold out. I'd have to say, since the Tigers are doing well in Detroit this year, many people have gone to games. But when they were horrible, no one went. Lions do bad and people keep coming. I think football feels like more of a sport also. Baseball doesnt have much contact, and is boring many times. Football seems to constantly grab your attention. Thus, football has become America's new past time sport.

Personally, I like football much more than baseball. It is more popular(look at TV contracts, ratings, merchandise sales) than baseball, but it won't be America's pass time any time soon. The fact is that baseball is the national pass time because it is the oldest major sport in our country. We essentially invented the sport. There is still a large generation of fans who still love baseball. But they will all have to die off before we can change our pass time. The younger generation is more into action and excitement. Baseball is a slow, deliberate sport. Hence PASS TIME. It passes the time because it's what you do on a warm, lazy summer day. There is a difference between the most popular sport(unquestionably football), and the favorite pass time(baseball).

Football is fun to watch and play, but it's not the real past time sport, baseball is, even though it's not the most popular anymore.

You mean it isn't? Oh I forgot about that sport, with the wooden stick and the little ball. I personally can't stand to watch baseball, unless I am looking to take a nap. So I will have to agree with you.

Yeah it's about that time. Football is one of the most watched sports. My favorite sport is basketball, but I know the popularity of football outranks it now.
