Whether its your 1st time or 99th time, NO WOMAN like the GYN visit, lol, trust me.
When going to a "professional" doctor they will:
First ask you to get undress, (they give you a gown and leave the room while you undress) they will take a urine sample from you, they will ask you when was your last period.
1. Explain everything their about to do to your before they do it.
2. Wear protective gloves as to not scratch you.
3. Put a protective jelly on their fingers, so you will not feel much discomfort.
4. Take an instrument, that they will use to place in vagina gently, and open up the vagina walls, in order to see inside and take a sample. This is to make sure that you do not have any cancer, abnormal growth or unsual swelling. They use this instrument to open the vagina, in order to take sample.
5. That sample is taken to lab to check to make sure everything ok.
6. The dr. will press down on your abdomen to make sure that your uterus feel ok, and again, that there is nothing abnormal.
The whole procedure takes about 15 -20 mins.

Hey, it's going to be okay! Think about it--Millions of women go to see a gyno!! Here are some things to consider about going to a gyno--Do you want to see a man or a woman? I prefer women doctors because I'm a woman and a woman knows her parts way better than a man LOL!
When you go to the gyno, the nurse will take your weight and blood pressure, ask you meds you are on, and tell you what to do. You will put on a gown and sit on a table while you wait for the Dr. or LPN to come in. Your doctor will talk to you and tell you what she's going to do. You will put your legs up in the stirrups--very awkward!! She will insert a speculum and probably take a pap smear. It doesn't hurt much or at all. Your doctor is a professional and she knows what she is doing--so I wouldn't fret. Once you go, you won't be scared anymore.
Doctors say all women over 18, regardless if they are sexually active or not should get pap smears to make sure they are not at risk for cervical cancer or abnormalities. A pap smear saved one of my sorority sister's lives.
If you have any questions or concerns, please ask her. She's a professional and is there to help!! Good luck!!

I had my first visit a year ago and I was very nervous because of things I had heard from other people. but It really isn't that bad. when I went I told the doctor that it was my first time and they were so nice they explained every thing they were going to do before they did it. I don't think that they will do anything different just because your a virgin. Try not to be nervous, just relax. every female has to go through it at some point.

The single most important thing is your level of comfort. Period. If you are not comfotable, ask for another doctor. If she/he gives you any problems, go to another office or clinic. If it is your first visit, you should be seen by a female, and if you are not, my advice is to request one. The single biggest myth I see is that speculums should not be lubricated with gel. It is 100% false, and all of the literature proves it. Make sure the doc lubricates the speculum with water-based gel. This will NOT screw up any cytology or other test results. If they use water alone, you are seeing someone who is not keeping current with practice.
Remember-everything should be based on YOUR comfort level. If it isnt, leave.

they'll possibly do a pap smear, in case you do no longer understand what it somewhat is it somewhat is whilst the well being practitioner does an examination and has to take try swabs to objective for rather lots each and every thing. they'll placed this plastic or steel ingredient in you and it clicks open for it to stay, it form of hurts and that i will admit I cried like a toddler the 1st time. whilst they do the swabs they virtually look like long Q-information, and it will injury (a minimum of for me it did) yet no longer for terribly long. it regularly does not take very long so do no longer challenge and as quickly because it somewhat is over with you will experience lots extra useful. they regularly in elementary terms do those in case you have been sexual nevertheless..
