The best trilogy is The Lord of the Rings. It is such a grand set of movies and they tell one of my favorite stories. I really like the other two options, but they both have there detractions. The obvious negative about Star Wars is the Ewoks and the X-men trilogy is good, but not great. The LOTR movies were so good that I looked forward to the next installment for an entire year. I'm just wondering why you didn't throw the Matrix trilogy in the mix?

I would say 'The Lord of the Rings'.
I've been a fan of Star Wars since i was 1bout 10, and the Lord of the Rings only since the first movie was made.
Lucas and Tolkien were both made their art so perfect, they really put a lot of effort and time in doing it, but I learn that Tolkien was far better because he put more effort by learning a lot of things (Mythology, culture, etc.) only to make the whole new myth (the Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion), while Lucas is less because he also put effort for other then Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings proves to be far better.

Star Wars definetly, they are the best movies ever.
Personaly I would have said Indiana Jones is next in line for best trilogy but given these choices I go with Lord of the Rings.
