Why doesn't Brett Farve actually spell his name the way you do? Instead he actually spells it Favre, which should be pronounced fav ray.

Any person worth anything loves to compete. Where would he find a level of competition like the NFL? He showed last year that he is still as good as anyone else in the world. So why should he quit? The Packers have not been good for several years but he is still one of the best. He has never been a runner but he can still pull of an amazing scramble and his arm is still about the best around. Remember that MNF game against Carolina last year? The end of that game he was absolutely amazing! But no defense a poor line all the running backs injured and only one decent receiver? The shelves are getting very bare in Green Bay.

The main reason is probably that he didn't want for his career to end like it did last season.

Last year was one of the worst seasons that ANY quarterback has ever had. He lead the league in interceptions and the Packers looked more like a college team than an NFL team for most of the season.

Even if the Packers only go 8-8 and Favre only has a halfway decent season throwing the ball, he can at least retire knowing his final year wasn't a COMPLETE disapointment.

Because he loves this game dearly, it means more to him than lets say other players (i.g. T.O.), he wishes he could turn back to his youth an play 20+ season but his body is just saying STOP! The main reason is that he loves football and plays not for the money but for the thrill and excitement.

Brett Farve For Hall Of Fame!

Have you ever seen any Pro Athlete's love for a sport greater than Favre's love of football?

In these days, with players like BO....I mean TO and the like. It's all about them, the fame, the notoriety, and most of all, the money.

Favre plays because he loves playing. Instead of people saying he should hang it up, maybe you should enjoy and cherish watching his last season because the Favres, the Elways, the Marinos are rare and you get to say you saw one of the best play.

He wants to be like George Foreman when he came back and won the title. He is hoping to prove he can still get it done. Also he has been playing football for so long, he is scared to do anything else. Many athlete suffer from this. By the way go head Barry Bonds!!! He just hit 726 & 727 tonight!!!

Brett Favre is an awesome player and QB "STILL". He has no surrounding cast. The entire offense is shot. He probably feels that he still has something to prove and wants to end on a good note. In my opionion, he needs to retire before the season begins. His team doesn't deserve him.

Good question. Here is a first ballot Hall of Famer who is stumbling around with a team that clearly needs a lot of new and better players. I think it is sad because Favre had a fantastic career and the way many will remember him is this year and last year. Not fair, but still the way many will view Favre.

He's afraid of being out of the spotlight, he's a pro football player, he wants to be in the spotlight as much as possible, like Jerry Rice going on "Dancing with the Stars" after he retired.
Also, these guys are addicted to competition.
