A band has a concert that starts in 17 minutes and they must all cross a bridge to get there. All four men begin on the same side of the bridge.
You must help them across to the other side. it is night!!
There is one flashlight. A miximum of two people can cross at one time.
Any party who crosses either 1 or 2 people, must have the flashlight with them. The flashlight must be walked back and forth. It cannot be thrown, ect. Each band member walks at a different speed.
A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower man's pace:
Bono- 1 minute to cross
Edge-2 minutes to cross
Adam- 5 minutes to cross
Larry- 10 minutes to cross
For example: If bono and larry walk across first, 10 mintues have elapsed when they get to the other side of the bridge. If Larry returns with the flashlight, a total of 20 minutes have passed and you have failed the mission.

Bono carries flashlight with Edge to cross bridge in 2 minutes, then Bono walks back (1 minute), then Bono leaves flashlight with Larry and Adam, who take 10 minutes to cross together, then Edge goes back again to get Bono (2 minutes), who return together in another 2 minutes. That's 2 min + 1 min + 10 min + 2 min + 2 min, which equals 17 minutes!

I got it:
1. Bono and Edge cross first, taking 2 minutes.
2. Bono returns with flashlight, taking 1 minute.
3. Adam and Larry cross, taking 10 minutes.
4. Edge returns with flashlight, taking 2 minutes.
5. Bono and Edge cross last, taking 2 minutes.

ok the way i see it, either you cant count the number of times bono walks back to get someone else, or you just cant do it! the math is simply wrong. sorry to burst your bubble.... bono and larry, 10. bono back, 1. bono and adam, 5. bono back, 1. bono and edge, 2, and that makes 19 minutes, time up, concert cancelled, band over! is there something im missing?!

Yeah are you sure you dont mean they have 19 minutes, not 17? Cause anyway you work it, 17 is not enough.
