I met "Divine" at the Limelight in Chicago way back in...1985? 1984? Anyway, it was dress up in patriotic colors, so for my ensemble, I had red suede pumps with 3" heels. Divine was up on stage, sweating like a mutha, some weirdo was slinging granny panties up at him, so he threw the tissue he wiped his forehead with at that guy...but I snagged it instead. Big fight over that with freak in a latex jumper. Later on, in the VIP room (Scarlett, anyone know what happened to her, she was cool--also Leif, where are you guys?) some xdresser sd "love the shoes" and took them OFF MY FEET and pranced off in the crowd with my damn shoes!
Later on, they were on the amplifier behind DIVINE on stage.
Never did get my shoes back. Had to go home shoeless.
Here's a quote for you..."COTTTTON! COOOOTTTTTTON!"

OMG. I have seen "Pink Flamingos" so many times and I have never ran into anyone else that has seen it. I think Divine is just about the creepiest thing in the world and so is the movie but I can't help but like it...lol.

I loved pink flamingos, i love all his other movies. They where gonna make a pink flamingos 2 but Divine died before they could, it's a shame, it would have been ace.

I love John Waters, but I prefer his more....ummm, how shall we say.....'accessible' stuff.....Hairspray, Serial Mom, Cry Baby.

I have seen Pink Flamingoes (on the big screen in fact) and I'm somewhere between entertained and scarred for life, which actually causes me to appreciate Mr. Waters' work even more.

I loved Divine. I remember going to see Polyester in the movies and it was in Odorama. They handed out cards, and we would scratch them to smell vomit, or whatever. It was really much funnier than it sounds. lol.

i loved this movie. in fact i went the 25th anniversary showing in my city. it was awesome. i don't eat eggs anymore thanks to edith. ...eggs, eggs, where's the egg man??

i also liked hairspray, lust in the dust and polyester. don't forget your scratch & sniff card. some of it was good and some was bad.

every summer, john waters goes to provincetown, ma for one of the many film festivals they have. i believe he goes there in june.
