The trash folder is just a place that files are stored ( like any other folder ). Nothing is deleted.
Then, when you " empty" the trash, you are using Windows to
use the DOS " DEL" command, which, again, does not delete
anything, but it just puts a " ? " on the label of the name of the file.
The file is still there. You normally can't use a " ? " in a filename, since this is a reserved character as part of the operating system.
So when you " empty " the trash bin, is the same thing as the
" old " DOS ' delete.
THUS, all your files that you deleted are still there, just with the
one letter of the filename changed to a " ?".
THEN, if you do not write any NEW FILES on top of the old files,
the files just sit there.
If you add new software or save files on your harddrive, the operating system will start to use up the " empty " spaces left by the " deleted " files, since it has the OS's permisssion to automatically OVER WRITE the spaces with files labelled with a " ?".
You can use " UNDELETE" commands if your OS has them, or any one of hundreds of free " RECOVER" or RESTORE programs, which just go thru the harddrive, looking for files with
a " ? " in the name, and they will ask you if you want to recover the files. You may have to give the missing letter a new letter and
save. NORTON utilities was one of the first programs available on the PC to do this, and now there are hundreds.
You can try majorgeeks.com, downloads.com, tucows.com etc. to find utilities that do this. If you have SAVED hundreds of files or large files since the EMPTY TRASH, then much of you old data will be overwritten...
If you set up your email program to automatically copy your email onto your harddrive, you have a copy.
If you are ONLINE, in yahoo, and you empty, again, you are not erasing anything, as the new 911 laws require all servers to keep a copy of EVERYTHING, so it is still there. However - YOU cant see it. You can't normally override the yahoo server, for example, without hacking into it, in which case you can see ALL the files you ever had, including those deleted, as well as everyone elses. ... There are flaws in the delete or empty online, and I have accidently found deleted information - without trying, so the programming used already has holes in it....
If you really value your email, have it copied to your harddrive in a folder, and burn a backup to CD every once in a while...
Hope that this helps.

Delete on an online email account means just that.
If it was on your computer, there are utuilities that can attempt to recover it if the space has not been overwritten.
But I doubt Yahoo would let you run that on their server!

It's deleted from the server if you're using an online email client, such as Yahoo! Mail.
There's no way to recover it.

All mail files are stored on the mail server, so when you delete them, they are deleted on the mail server. So there is no way of finding them on Your Computer. May be You could send a letter to customer support of your mail provider, they may be in a position to help you.
