Well, it depends.
I think many times teachers who like their students rob these teens of their innocence for their own sexual fantasies and sick purposes.
However, if it's a college professor and college student then I think if the student is 18 & up they are reliable for themselves and their feelings, so I would say it is ok.
This is a very wide controversy though. I don't think it's cute or cool for an elderly teacher to want to date their 13 year old student and later marry them (like that one case, where the woman got pregnant with his kid, she was or still is in jail.. i'm not too fond of the name). Things like that make me believe the 13 year old didn't get to experience real realtionships and jumped too soon into adulthood.
So, as I said, there are variations for this answer pending on age.

I just had my 30 yr reunion and we were talking about a girl that married one of the football coaches.

They have 3 daughters and are still together. But make sure you keep it secret till you're out of school or the teacher will be in for deep trouble as you might have noticed on the news lately.

I've only known of one case and it ended in divorce. But, so do a lot of other marriages.
