Okay, this is going to be a lot of personal opinions. I say Honda Civic. It almost always is statistically more reliable, although every automaker pushes out a lemon now and then so there's no guarantee, you've just got better odds if you buy the Honda. Consumer Reports has the Civic as a Best Bet for a used car.
Another thing to consider is Mitsubishi was recently rumored to be considering leaving the US market, which would kill their resale value. They have denied the rumor, see the link.

two different types of cars Eclipse is two door front wheel drive sport car available V-6. The Honda civic a good four door small sedan only three different in line four cylinder engines. Civic Si coupe almost 200 hp 4 cyl engine... Civic vs Lancer same league. And I would still go Honda

Motor Trend Magazine named the 2006 the Car of the Year. These dudes drive different cars every day, and if they say the Civic is the best i would agree with them. I mean they are driving cars like ferraris and porsches all day, so if they say the civic is the best, i would have to assume they are correct because they drive every car available. I dont know anyone here on yahoo who can say the same.

Honda's are very reliable as a family car.eclipse is a sport car way faster than a civic.

i would pick the honda only if it was the si. my friend has an si and that things so sexy and fast, he beat a 2005 v6 mustang with it, both manual. lol. the eclipse i would just pick for its power, but compared to other civics other than the si, i would pick the eclipse. plus theyre not as rare. honda gets about 2 or so sis a month i think, thats what one dealer told me, and theres a long waiting list on them as well.

i say civic about 4K cheaper than the eclipse and 00-05 eclipse had a lots of troubles, like rusting and stuff. plus civic have most resale value on the planet
