the queastion was about moral obligation not who wins the spelling bee, and bannana ice cream is legal even if you dont like, and have you ever heard of premeditated actions "means they thought about it first"

I think people who engage in child pornography should be shot. Yes this was a question over the Internet but most likely this person would engage in this action because he has thought about this process. Who cares if they are expressing their opinion they should be punished and be shot with a fire squad we don't need these people in society.

Speech is protected by the Constitution, action is not (in the case you cited). I can say any vile, disgusting, or reprehensible thing that I want to in this forum or any other.

Even if Yahoo reported it to the person's local police, there is nothing they can do about it. It would not be sufficient for a search warrant or wiretap.

There is a difference between someone making an *** of himself anonymously on the internet and someone soliciting minors on Myspace. Solicitation is action, whereas, asking a repulsive question is not.

BTW, learn how to spell or I'll report you for being a dumbass. (that's protected speech, btw).

You think it's wrong to even talk about those subjects? Did those people actually commit any crimes? Or just talk about things you don't like?

We have a moral and ethical obligation to follow the laws. And maybe to change the laws if we think they are wrong.

We don't have an obligation to force our particular morality down anyone else's throat. Morality and ethics are personal, and chosen by the individual.

And while I may personally think something is disgusting and perverted (banana ice cream, for example) that doesn't give me the right to impose my beliefs on anyone else.

well~i used to feel like it would be taking everything too seriously~BUT~do you know that you can't even ask the guard at a courthouse about a bomb in a joking manner~

~i was at the juvenile courthouse and the gentleman in front of me made a comment ~nothing even resembling a threat~but the nice lady guard told him that he could be arrested for just kidding around like that... i was waiting for her to crack a grin because the mood had been light; but she was SERIOUS!!!

so~if they have to be all serious like that at the metal detector at a kids courthouse~there are two sides to that coin.

if you didn't report an incident, and then later on you found out that someone had been hurt~and that it could have been avoided if you had just told someone~could you live with yourself?

i don't think that i could.

but that is where your moral and ethical obligation stops. you only have access to so many levels of "higher-ups" and then it is in their hands. what they choose to do with the information you gave them is out of your hands. your conscience should be clear~

of course~you can always pray that someone is spared because you did the right thing.

It depends if they were making a joke or not.

If they were joking, then you should be reported for not having a sense of humor. If they were serious, they should be shot.
