Good answers there. I have a cat and had roaches. Boric acid is not very toxic--no probs with me or the cat. Discount stores such as Dollar General are another source. Combat roach thingys can't be eaten by the cat and are also very effective. Side by side with the boric acid on the pest control aisle.

boric acid is a must have. it works so well that now when i move into a new place, i automatically put it in the kitchen and bathroom and it prevents those suckers from even coming out. don't know how it works exaclty, all i know is it costs a dollar at the dollar store. fyi, don't go to a dollar store in laguna beach looking for boric acid, you have to go into a neighborhood where roaches are endemic. i know several people who actually had bad roach problems, but then after using boric acid, the roaches disappeared. also, you should bomb your house/apt. periodically. you can find roach bombs at your local target, or supermarket. and, make sure you have superb hygeine.

If you see one, there are hundreds you arent seeing. They are light-phobes.
- Isolate your food sources, put anything containing carbs, protien,or fat, in airtight containers in your cupboards. The roaches can eat stuff so small you cant see it.
- Isolate food in your fridge, because there is condensation liquid drain tubes they will crawl up to live in your fridge.
- Clean the crap out of any water source, or grease source. Fully clean your stove, and dont have any appliance that leaves standing water.
- Seal gaps through which they transit. If possible caulk the holes in the back of cupboards, and around plumbing going into walls.
Now get a professional, not a witchdoctor, to put a barrier spray around the perimeter of your abode, there are pet safer chemicals they can use.
Now hope for the best because if you are infested, this isnt going to change anything.

Call your veterinarian and ask if it is safe to use boric acid powder for roaches with your cat in the house. If he says it is safe, it is probably safe. If he says it is not safe, ask him what would be safe to use to kill the roaches w/o harming your cat. If he doesn't know, ask a pest control expert. Tell him you have a cat and ask what will kill roaches w/o hurting the cat. They may tell you that you will have to have your place fumigated o.s.l.t., and then clean the place very carefully and specially, to protect the cat afterward. Basically, listen to them and follow their instructions.

nothing that kills in non-toxic; try boric acid powder. It works by making little cuts in the insects exoskeleton and allowing their moisture to escape, thus killing them.
