I don't know what that means, I have never heard that phrase. Mr. Bojangles is the character of a song about a man who danced. Lyrics......I knew a man Bojangles and he danced a bit...in worn out shoes...silver hair and ragged shirt and baggy pants...the old soft shoe. He jumped so high, jumped so high, and then he lightly touched down.
When I was a child I did a tap dance to this song.

I had a male cat I named him Mr. Bojangles - But I have only known it to be a song about a hobo and an old dog.

I dunno, but there was this horse card game I used to have and it had names of the horses and there was a black jumping gelding named Bojangles.. hmm.
I think people heard it in the song, and then they thought Bojangles sounded cool.
It's also a regional chain of fast food resturants, specializing in fried chicken and biscuits (I wonder where they are at.. I want to go to one!).
