oooh, deep question dude. i think that its easier to deal with the fear of rejection rather than the rejection itself. when you just fear rejection you can change yourself and hide and pretend and ignore the problem but when you are actually rejected there is no going back and now you just have to get over it.

with rejection, all you have to do is accept it and move on, and hard as it may be, you will make it. With fear, it eats away at your heart and you can't stop thinking about it. Fear can last for as long as the rejection has not yet been made, but as soon as you find a replacement for what you lost with the rejection, you stop cooking yourself. The sooner the rejection is final, the sooner you can accept it and move on.

The fears can go on for as long as you let them. The actual rejection puts it right there on the table. No more wondering. It's done. It will hurt, but you will eventually get over it. Time tends to take care of those things.

For myself, it's easier to deal with the actual event than it is to deal with the phantom fears in my own mind. Those can take on epic proportion.

It is easier to deal with the actual rejection.
A person's mind plays weird tricks and can think up horrendous scenarios...much worse than the real thing.

I'd say the fear. Our fears are usually way worse and cause more problems than the things we are actually afraid of.

It depends on the feelings one has for another. If they are deep seated and in love feelings, it wouldn't matter. Either or would be traumatic. A crush is another issue, feelings may be trompeled on a bit but one will get over it...........
