Lisa you are clearly NOT a biologist of any kind. Rainforests are not a source of oxygen at all, much less a major one. See the link below. This is something that any biologist knows.

And rainforests have numerous negative impacts, which is also something any real biologist would know.

Rainforests are unproductive. People can't live in rainforests because there isn't enough food. Even those people who are often described as living in rainforests live in cleared farms within the forest and occasionally hunt in the forest. There simply isn't enough accessible food in any rainforest on earth to support human beings.

Rainforests are a major harbourage of vermin, weeds and pests. These organisms then leave the forest and destroy people, crops and animals.

Rainforests are a major harbourage of criminals. Everyone from drug producers to terrorist groups such as Al Qaida use rainforests as their bases of operations.

Rainforests are aggressive and destroy biodiversity. In many parts of the world rainforest is choking put grasslands and woodlands an in the process contributing to the extinction of plants and animals.

Rain forests are a major storage of carbon. If man were to burn the rain forests, then that would release a large amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This would play havoc with the temperature. So rain forests are a ticking time bomb. This calls for preservation of rain forests.

The rain forest doesn't have a negative impact on mankind. For one thing, it's a MAJOR source of oxygen (which we need to survive), and one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world.
