That is a fine idea..I am a mother of 3 and I breastfed all of them for 4 months..and I gave formula when I couldnt feed, or if my hubby got up with them in the middle of the night..Just make sure its as close to the breastmilk as possible and make sure to mix it perfect or it will upset the baby's tummy! Good luck !!

U can give him formula whenever u want. My son got only breastmilk for 8wks & then breastmilk & formula til he was a year. The only thing u need be concerned w/ at 3 wks is "nipple confusion". Some breastfed babies will refuse a bottle b/c of breast preference. Some will take the bottle & then refuse the breast b/c a bottle is easier to feed from. That's why most Dr.'s suggest breastfeeders to hold off on the bottle til 6wks. The hope is by then they'll be attached enough 2 the breast that they'll wiiling return 2 it after the easiness of a bottle. Good Luck!

It is okay to give him the formula but be prepared to have some issues with the adjustment. (spitting up,constipation, gas, ect.)
I also breastfeed my 6 month old and during the day she has 6-8 oz of prosoybee formula, but only because I can't pump (nothing come out after an hour of trying I might have an ounce)
But here is my question to you.
Why are you giving up breastfeeding after 2 months? If your baby is thriving on the breast milk and your not having an breastfeeding issues than why are you quitting?

Breastfeed as long as possible. Don't let him get "used" to artificial crud. You are raising a human not a calf. If you absolutely can't avoid making the switch due to work so on, then give him formula during the hours you will be working. I wouldn't give him anything but the breast now though because you haven't even developed your milk supply yet. Good luck, I know it's hard but I breastfed 4 children for two years each and am breastfeeding a 7month old now. I would never have believed it if you told me I could do that 10 years ago.

That is fine I really think it is better for the baby to get use to formula since you are going to switch to formula at 2 months old.

Basically, giving him formula doesn't always mean baby will sleep through the night better.
He'll sleep through when he is developmentally ready.
Of course it is ok -- formula is food -- but should you? I would say no, if its just an experiment to see if he'll sleep better. Its not worth the breast/bottle confusion. Especially if its YOU giving him the bottle!

since the use of formula is strongly correlated to a lower iq, and higher incidence of diabetes, and greater risk of cancer, i don't know why you'd switch at all.
at night, your baby should be cuddling with you, nursing on demand. nursing on demand adjusts the milk so it's always delivering precisely what your baby needs.
WHO says nurse for at least two years, Marie Montessori said at least three years. Formula is not only damaging to kids' health, but the very people who make it make the medicines for diabetes. Think about it!

I dont think there is any problem with that at all. The first 6 weeks of breastmilk are important for all the good stuff but as long as the baby gets some breast milk in those first few weeks, even if it is supplemented with breast milk, is still good. The forumla is supposed to be as close to what is in your breast milk as possible, expect it doesnt have all the immune system stuff, but if the baby gets it during hte day, he still gets it

it should be fine, in fact weaning him slowly will benifit both of you. first of all your beast produce milk on demand based on previous nursings, if you cut back slowly nursing so will your milk. Then your breasts wont become as hard as rocks and painful. also there is less chance of infection also. Formula is also doesn't go through a baby's system as fast as braest milk so he may sleep for longer periods durring the night. Just watch out for allergies that your son may have. tell your doctor and he/she will be able to tell you what formula is recomended.

I would suggest to you to express your milk before you go to bed and have them ready for the night feedings, instead of giving formula now. Let him get all your milk now so that his immune system will get stronger. Nothing better than mother's milk. Just bare with it for just a little while longer, you won't regret it.
p.s. that way if your partner is there he can feed him also.
