Liebermann may be trying to create a third force.
Imagine a line with extreme democrats at the left end and extreme republicans at the right end.
The key is how the American voters distribute along this line at this point in time.
I think that prior to the Iraq invasion, there were two peaks in numbers of people along the line. One peak was left of centre and another right of centre, so each party had its own group of supporters with some undecided between the two peaks.
Iraq changed all that. Each peak split.
The democrats split with some opposing the war and becoming more liberal and some, like Liebermann, supporting the war and moving towards the right.
Similarly for the Republicans, opponents to the war moves towards the left and proponents hardened their stance by moving more towards the right.
All of a sudden there is a group of people in the middle which people like Liebermann can try to take advantage of.
If Liebermann decides to form a party, this will cost democrats, and will cost republicans too; but chances are, there are more 'defectors' from the left than from the right; so the democrats will be hurt more.
But that is not the only consideration.
Remember that many people to not turn up to vote. As the democrat peak shifts left and faces competition from Liebermann, paradoxically, more people could be driven to the polls, re-enfranchising the people. All of a sudden people who thought present democrats were not left-wing enough will turn up to support them. People who were closer to the centre but who are against Iraq invasion will also turn up for the democrats to differentiate themselves from the Liebermann crowd.
Therefore I think that the democrats might have done the right thing in letting Liebermann go. The Iraq war is big enough an issue that a single strong differentiating view point is required to mobilise the democrats and make them vote.

Following the 2010 elections there have been numerous Republican leaders thrown out of their jobs for balloting for a Democrat over the Republican get mutually's candidate. They did that as they knew the Democrat became the further constructive selection. The Republicans even with the undeniable fact that would really have a foul Republican i workplace than a good Democrat and to all of them Democrats are undesirable. All actual human beings vote for the great individual not through what get mutually they characterize. actual human beings are in contact contained in the great interests of u . s . of america and in no way ensuring get mutually dominance (as Mitch McConnell stated the Republicans well-known objective is) ! i imagine Chris is being honest and giving Obama credit as he could - that doesn't advise he has became his back on Romney. What would you've him say or do; be like multiple Republicans carry out his hand, take what he can, then tell Obama to scr- -ff? you're a real Hannity/Limbaugh follower!

So the democrats did the right thing by throwing him out because he votes based on what he thinks is right, and not just because its a democrats platform? Well then, I guess you just described the democrats pretty well.
By the way, do you not see the irony of him leading the polls? Sounds like even most democrats don't agree with those socialist nut jobs running the democratic party.

Let try some common sense, When Al Gore picked him for VP, he did it to win favor with one block of voters. In selection discussion do you really think he said: You stay in Senate so one group of voters would have nothing to lose. It appears Mr. Lieberman is staying true to form.

Self serving? You just described 99% of all politicians. The Dems align themselves with anyone whom they believe will help their own agenda...........and drop them like a ton of bricks if there is even a hint the other persons views will cost them a single vote.
