I've only ever seen 1 gay film and that was Hellbent, which was a gay horror film. Quite good, a fit lad in it too (the one with the bike!) Any recommendations?

Oh yeah, I saw Brokeback Mountain at the cinema!
Honestly though, the TV ads didn't give me or my 2 straight friends any indication that it was a gay movie, but we all enjoyed it anyway!

I kinda liked Boys Don't Cry..well, it may be more of a lesbian movie, but it's based on a true story. Very sad and dramatic.

My Beautiful Launderette directed by Stephen Frears
Morris Merchant Ivory
DEBS
Krampack
Boy Culture
If These Walls Could Talk

They're a few good ones to look out for and a recent BBC production called in The Line of Beauty is worth a look at as well.

I hated Brokeback Mountain. The only thing interesting about it was that it was about gay guys, that's it. The storyline was nothing to be proud of and the cinematography was a sham!

"Birdcage" is a masterpiece, as is "Rent". "Boys Don't Cry", "Something About Jane", and "The Producers" (keep it gay, keep it gay!) are a few other good ones. Don't watch "Drift"...horrible, boring movie.

For the guys, Queer as Folk, Jeffrey, Maurice, Birdcage are all I can think of right now. Check out Wolfe video (all gay films) in Washington. They have a nice collection. It depends on whether you watch movies with story lines or just porn. You can order movies on line or ask for a catalog. They have stuff in vhs and dvd.

Well I definitely recommend "Maurice", "Wilde", "Torch Song Trilogy" & "Priscilla - Queen of the Desert". I also enjoyed "My Own Private Idaho" but then I was stuck on River Phoenix.

Get the UK version of Queer as Folk, especially the first series as it ROCKED!

Also, get Velvet Goldmine as it's fabulous. And you get to see a lithe Ewan McGregor jumping about naked on stage and kissing Jonathan Rhys Meyers. MMMMM.

look for a brit flick called "like it is"...not brilliant, but an interesting look at masculinity and survival aswell as the central theme of life in the pop world from a gay male perspective.
