Every PC I've ever used was pre-set with "programs". I can't change the settings at work, but I'd like to explore my options on my home PC. My neighbor "re-built" my used PC and it's working great. My ISP is 'NetGear' and I have all the standard stuff: Windows Xp, Excel, Word. Most of my e-mail accounts are with !Yahoo but I do have one each on "HotMail" and AOL. My current 'toolbar' is !Yahoo but I don't know if that's the best. I'm only interested in "free" services. I am not particularily saavy nor are my needs exotic. I basically use my PC for e-mail (my Daughter and Cousin sometimes e-me photos), searching for information on the Internet that are of interest to me and Word for creating personal documents. Should I make any changes? Although I've used computers for over 20 years, I've never "done my own thing". Suggestions & advice are welcomed. Thank you and have a delightful evening!

Operating system is the governing system of the computer. There are several still used operational system but the most home used one now is windows xp, which is the latest for home computer. You might use another one at work becuase it better meets the needs of your particular employer. There is not much you can do about the operationg system unless you buy another one and they tend to be pretty expensive.
Toolbars are downloaded from the internet and are offered by various main web companies. Each one of the makes certain task easier over the net, but is just to make them easier there are always a different way to do each one of those actions, they just put it at your fingertips for you. I use the Yahoo one myself and don't need any other one. but you can download others as well and used them all at the same time, you are not limited to just one toolbar.
Home page is just the page that would apear when you log on the internet, it does nothing special for you. When you log on the intenet you kind of have to go somewhere so that's what the homepage is for you. I like to use Yahoo.com because i like the way the news are presented right away on them and they have useful tools for checking your email right from the homepage. I am a full yahoo user so i have little need for something else. Changing your homepage is easy and you could do it over and over until you find the homepage that you like the best.

The best toolbar I've used is Google...... It's the best search engine. Anyhow operating system would be what you call Windows XP. They have different versions of it, win98, win 95, win 2000, etc...... Windows XP is the latest one.
Toolbars are things that install on your internet program that is a "Tool" for you to use. It gives you options to play games, search, etc....... Google has a nice toolbar (www.google.com) that I really like.
Home page is the webpage that displays when you open internet explorer. You can set it to anything. By default it is set to msn.com.
