it isnt. i particularly enjoy the reactions of all the politically correct,"right on" people on this page, who claim it is normal and always has been. Yeah ok,next you will be telling me its great that they can adopt children so they can spawn a new generation of gays.i cant believe that even the trendiest hippy in town, with there beri and che guevara t shirt can possibly believe that.its wrong,it used to be illegal,it will never be ok

That's not what I asked. I used the word queer and it changed it to gay. I don't use the word queer but I'm just trying to make a point. Homosexuality yes has been with us forever but it was never deemed ok. In fact it was once considered sexual deviantcy. Today if you're straight you have to explain yourself but if you're gay it's normal. I think that if these liberal minded people were really so liberal if someone has a different opinion it would be tolerated. It's if a person feels that homosexuality is perverted then they are deemed to be a hateful bigot. I don't hate anybody but I can still think that homosexuality is not right.

Although gay rights existed prior to the 1960's (ie the Mattachine Society), modern gay rights traces its roots to the 1969 riot outside the Stonewall Inn in NYC. Police had come to raid the bar make arrests and the patrons fought back. From that point there has been a steady struggle to acknowledge that gays exist and are entitled to certain rights and privileges like the rest of the population.
Recently, the media and the public in general have softened their attitudes toward gays and lesbians, perhaps because in the ensuing 37 years more people have come out to them. Gays characters can be found on major network television in honest major roles, as opposed to flighty gay-but-not-gay relatives or neighbors.

It has always been OK. Many famous people in History were gay. Can you believe that Abraham Lincoln had a gay relationship with his friend "Speed" before he married. Pretty well documented now. Maybe that is why he was so forgiving of the south. Gay people are better.

Excuse me? When did it become okay to be gay?
Let's try this little experiment. I am going to give your a sign to wear around your neck for one day. The sign will read. I am a gay man. You will walk down the street, thru a mall and into a biker bar.
When you wake up from your coma, we will discuss how it is okay to gay.

It actually is your own opinion. It does not matter what others are thinking. If you started accepting gays as normal people yesterday, then it only became okay yesterday.
If you think it is not okay in your lifetime, then it will never be okay.
Gays has been around since evolution......

It's always been OK - it's natural and normal. What isn't normal is the extreme and hateful reactions that started in the 20th century, and continue today.
In some cultures today, and in many cultures in history, being gay was not surprising to anyone.

It's always been ok to me, even when I was straight. I have never looked down on gay people. The ones I look Down on are the child molesters, murders, animal killers, and hipocrites. The ones that actually are sick and dimented.

That's like asking when did it become okay to be straight!
It's just a fact of life and has been for centuries. You don't have to like it, but don't obsess over it either. I get so tired of these comments/questions about being gay. Aren't there more important issues in life to worry about???

Actually there have been different societies around the world where it's never been considered wrong, even in societies that spawned our own it wasn't always frowned upon.
It's only been religion that made it "wrong". We currently live in a society where we have freedom of religion, so if I don't believe it is wrong, it isn't wrong.
