No. The last thing we want is to have candidates funded by some government run bureaucracy.
1. It's against free speech. If some billionaire (remember H. Ross Perot?) decides to spend his own money on a campaign there's no way he could be stopped. It's flat out unconstitutional.
2. A viable third party hasn't come around since the Reps in the 1850s. But, I'm sure that the SPLATT, Green, Libertarian, Independence, etc. parties would raise a ruckus. They neither deserve full funding of the Ds and Rs, nor deserve to be shut out completely.
3. There's no way to stop issue based advertisement (can anyone say 501(c)(4), Swiftboat, AARP, NRA or MoveOn.org?). Again, it's free speech.
I could go on, but I see some other questions that need my answers.
For more information about the SPLATT party, click on my profile and read all about us. Thank you for your support.

No... Presidential candidates don't need welfare from the government. And I don't want *ANY* of my tax dollars going to campaign funds for *ANYONE* Jeez, the government screws up enough already...keep it out of campaign funding.

Good idea, but it won't ever happen. Presidential elections are all rigged anyway, and controlled by the Illuminati.
