Should I write a follow up or a thank you letter if I did not get the job which I interviewed/applied for? I recently had my 2nd interview last week with a small company (80 people) for an IT support position and today I found out I did not get the position. I want to do this so I can find out why I did not get the job. I would like to be able to find out if at all possible as to why they did not hire me or what the other candidates had over me that enabled them to get the poition over me.

Absolutely, and make it a printed letter, not e-mail. If they took the time to interview you, you show your appreciation by using some of your time and effort.

You should thank them for their time and effort, then go on to show how you think so highly of their place of business, are disappointed that you were not selected, and would appreciate it if they would tell you what you are lacking or how you could improve your qualifications so as to be reconsidered and possibly selected sometime in the future. (In other words, pour it on.)

Yes, I think you should. Asking the questions that you mention will enable you to identify any areas where you need to develop your skills. It is also a good way to maintain an industry contact and hopefully keep your name towards the top of the list next time they have an opening.

Bosses hire people who're qualified AND who they like. which you will start construction a sprint bit a dating, p.c.. up the telephone and supply the flair boss a decision. Ask how the candidate seek is going and tell him you're finding at multiple opportunities yet sense this job is the superb in super condition for the two one in all you. you won't get to talk to him without delay, so think of approximately what you may say on a voice mail message earlier you call. it is likewise possible to ask if there is something you ought to or could desire to do to guard the job. After that, in case you chatted for any length of time in any respect you ought to deliver a short be conscious thanking him for taking the time to talk to you and reiterating your interest interior the job. superb of success!

I wouldn't. You've done your part to form the partnership.

You have to keep hitting the list of prospects, and move on. I really hope that you get the next opportunity that comes your way. Keep your positive outlook and interview well.

make it a thank you note, and not a "thanks for the interview but why did you pick that person instead of me" note.

if this other person doesnt work out, your thank you note will still be stuck on the interviewee's wall. See?
