If you put one pen inside of another and then put 7 armadillos inside the inner pen and seven in each of the others pens that would work.

See if you can find 4 armadillos that behave funny - they run away from ants or they chase their own tails or something. Boy,such an armadillo would really be an odd number. Make sure these 4 armadillos are among your 21 and then when you put them in pens,make sure each pen has one of these odd numbers that chase their own tails in it.

well 4 odd numbers always sum to an even number.
odd + odd = even
odd + even = odd
even + even = even
even + odd = odd (same as 2)

... so unless there is more information ... or some wierd trick.. i dont think it can be done

If you add two odd numbers, you get an even number. If you add two even numbers you get an even number.
This means that if you add four odd numbers, you will get an even number. 21 is impossible.
