triple 000 steel wool, will clean it nicely but it's a lot of rubbing.

Mothers Aluminum polish and a buffing pad on a drill or use paint polishing compound and the same buffing pad and it will make it shine like new aluminum

You might want to try a cleaning powder called "Bartender's Friend" does not scratch and cleans aluminum.

You can clean aluminim with muriatic acid. You should be able to find this at an auto shop and follow the instructions on the container.

i have used simple green and a scrub brush to clean diamond plating. it works well on the grime. you can then polish with mothers metal polish it works great!!!
