Why has little league baseball decided to change the age dates for kids thirteenth birthday to be eligible to play little league?

They never changed the age. The age limit is still twelve. They have, however, pushed back the cutoff. The cutoff was August and is now March. This allows for more thirteen year old players in.

I don't believe they have. The age requirement has always been that to be eligible to play, the player must not have turned 13 by August 1st of that calendar year. As the popularity of Little League has grown, the playoffs have pushed well past 8/1, such that it's possible for someone born in August to turn 13 and still be playing, but it's a rarity.

Because too many 16 year olds passed themselves off as 12 year olds and threw perfect games - take the kid from the Domenican Republic a few years ago.

My scientific guess is that Americans grow a lot between the ages of 12 and 13 versus the Far East countries....therefore we now might be a able to sneak in 6'8" ball players and rip their heads off...........makes sense doesn't it!!!
