Oh let's see, besides people losing money, people would be forced to let's say ----get a life?

That's assuming it's even *possible* to shut down "the internet" for a week. Remember that the Internet is global, and made up of *thousands* of INTERconnected NETworks (that's where the name came from after all). So even if several hundred networks went out to lunch, the other would basically just reconnect around them.

And remember, no network *wants* to shut down, because then it's losing revenue and customers to some other net stat stayed up.

About the only thing that would take out *all* of the net would be a global-scale thermonuclear war - and the same EMP that would knock out the Net would *also* nuke essentially all other electronics. At that point, you'll be wanting a copy of the Boy Scout Fieldbook or other good wilderness-survival guide, a good rifle, and lots of ammo, because it will be every man for himself...

I would lose out on a lot of points on here. Other than that, I would survive but our business would be more difficult to run.

there already are plans for the government to begin controlling the internet. restricted sites, and unbelievable load times. THAT's gonna suck.
