i don't believe of your chum understood wisely the reason given through H & R Block or the tax professional is new and would not understand it himself. If a tax payer did not receive the stimulus examine then they could receive it alongside with the refund. in the journey that they did not get the full volume in accordance to their filing status then that can be made up. My understanding is that the stimulus money is surely not deducted out of your refund. I have executed about 5 tax returns so a ways this year and no individual has had to pay that a refund to the IRS. What would have befell on your chum is that she owed the IRS money from a previous year and they'll take what she owed from her refund or she did not pay the monetary employer mortgage back from very last year and that is being deducted. The IRS isn't even accepting returns till January 16 so it type of feels not likely that your chum received something in any respect this early. She probably did her taxes and the go back became submitted, even with the undeniable fact that the IRS has not yet known receipt of the go back.

You'll suffer a penalty, but you can submit anything late. I've seen people submitting 8 year old returns.
Be prepared to pay, and don't expect them to work quickly, it is the tax office after all.

I don't know how taxes work in Australia and New Zealand, but I would advise you to pay your taxes, no matter how late. You wouldn't want the government to come after you....unless you can run pretty fast and pretty far away. But seriously, yes, and you may have to pay a penalty.

Yes, file as soon as you can.
If you have a refund coming, there is no penalty (but they pay you no interest).
If you owe them, the longer you wait, the higher the penalty.
If you wait for them to come after you for the return, you could face jail time...

If you owe you will have to pay a penalty and interest. It won't break you but will make you mad.
