What made it so bad? Best answer to the one who describes working in Hell the best!

Mine: My boss stole my research and called it his own. He found away every day to tell me how stupid I was. He pitted employees against each other, and asked them to spy. My first day of work I was asked to spy on his assistant manager. At my 6 month job evaluation he asked if I was getting laid enough. He hit an employee. He played favorites in a manner that was downright sickening. He made passes at every female in the company he found attractive. I moved to another country to get away from him!!

He was fired last year. When I came forward and complained initially within the company, I was told, "well, that's just how "Bob" is; you have to learn to live with it" I left, went back to work for someone else, and then moved on again. Have not, luckily, seen a follow-up act since!

My worst experience. Well, I had found the best job I had ever had, or so I thought. Then my world collapsed. My husband was having an affair in Korea, my father died of cancer, my son graduated from High School and moved out to join the Coast Guard so I was going through an emotional roller coaster. I was very quiet and although I did my job, i did not want to participate in what they called social butterfly events. Since I was not the social butterfly in the office, others felt I was withdrawn and they had to walk on eggshells around me, so she asked me to resign or she would fire me. I had never been fired so I resigned. later on she found out about all I was going through and she had the never to say, "why didn't she tell me". i wanted to say, because it was NONE of your business. That was and has been my worst experience but, you live, you learn and you grow stronger!

My worst boss made me feel small got everyone to turn on me acused me of stealing got me cleaning toilets. Made female members of staff stand on there chairs with there hands on there heads if they messed up. used to pick on females by taking them into his "Office" which was a small wine storage room barely big enough for him and another person shut the door and screamed in there faces. Cheated on his wife with another married woman and when the husband of his mistrss found out he came to find him and he asked me to go and sort it out whilst he hid in the back room. I went out and told the guy exactly where he was. The biggest asshole ive ever met. He also stole from the company and blamed others as well as gambling nonstop and sexually harasing the young girls.

Oh that would be the tool I worked for that didn't give me a raise for three years. I find out now that he is on crack and is a gambling addict. LOL

Thank God I don't work there anymore. He used to kick chairs across the office, punch holes in the walls and scream and swear at us at the top of his lungs, slam doors, etc.

I feel for you. I am dealing with an unpleasant supervisor right now. My supervisor gave me a horrible evaluation last year that I feel was completely undeserved. He nitpicks every single thing and is an arrogant, know it all jerk. I'm just biding my time until I can transfer to another job site. Good luck to you.

I once got in a fist fight with an employer over who parked a truck in his driveway, since he had the keys It was apparent that it was him, he was drunk and swore that I parked it there and cused me for it! Well things got worse and I ended up pounding his head on the truck to the cries of his wife. the next day he told me he must have fallen off his deck or something! I never told him the difference, his wife Anna always looked at me strangly after that one. what a strange little smile!

I'm so sorry that you felt the need to move so far away from your previous boss. He should have been sacked for his actions/attitudes. (Obviously, that wouldn't have been possible if he was the highest person within the organisation.)

I have worked for two such bosses, one of whom came so close to me thumping him. Both of the bosses that I'm speaking about used to play one staff member against another, used to overload me with work. One of them used to absent themself from the workplace without telling me where he was going. This caused difficulties when his superiors telephoned, wishing to speak to him. I could never inform them where he was, or when he would be expected into work. This same boss used to shop for residents (I used to work in a home for the elderly, mentally infirm) during work time, yet still claim overtime at the end of each month.

When I applied for further training in my profession, this one boss did everything in his power to install obstacles to prevent it. He accused me of being racist, with no foundation, I hasten to add. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I don't possess racist views. I believe that everyone does. I'd already undergone anti-racist training twice, so I knew about my views and was actively combating them.)

What I would say is that I never once witnessed any form of 'over familiarity' with female members of staff. If I had, I would have reported him. That's something that I think is uncalled for. (Again, I ask that you don't get me wrong. I'm all for a laugh and a joke, whether of a sexual nature or not, but I do know where to 'draw the line'.)

I still remember on the day of his interview. I was requested to informally chat with the 3 applicants for the post he was applying for, and to feed back my opinions to the interview panel. I honestly didn't rate him highly, though he was not the worst candidate. He seemed to have 'the gift of the gab' but didn't really have the in-depth knowledge that he claimed to. This was later confirmed when he had to rely on me to carry out assessments of clients on his behalf as he was unable to fully comprehend their needs and 'problems'.

Fortunately for me, he gained promotion in another area of the department, and was moved.

The second person in my mind seemed to think that delegation was the 'be all and end all' of management skills. During inspections of the home, he would never accept criticism, even though it wasn't directed towards him, but rather at the establishment as a whole. It was left to other members of the officer team to put things right, without the support that we should have been given.

Luckily, this person, too, was moved to another area within the same department. What a sad reflection of the state of the department, that's all I can think.

I hope you put your former boss in his place when he questioned you over whether you were getting laid enough. He had no right, whatsoever, to be asking such questions.

my worst experience w/my boss. well he is a minister, and oversees a company, and when i needed him to answer some questions, he could not look me in the eyes, or answer the question, he gave me the run around & i wanted to slap him... now take it, i did not, he is a minister, but, a man who preaches the word of god , who cannot look you in the eyes, and give you a straight answer, is CROOK'ED in my opinion.... and he should not be allowed to run other companys if he is w/ a church .
