honestly, if it will increase in value, and you are sure, buy it. otherwise, I think there is a much better use of your money. comics are fun but life has so much more to offer.... I hope I'm not being negative - I used to read so much comics! I still like em but I don't have time...

First off, I'm pretty sure Civil War #3 is not in second printing yet, although it does have 2 variant covers out there. The only straight (not tie-in) Civil War titles I know of in second print are Civil War #1 and Civil War: Front Line #' 1 and 2.

Second, if you love having "one-of-a-kind things", you're barking up the wrong tree, pal. Unless you buy the sketch variants, preferably signed, numbered and validated by CGC, you don't have anything unique. And to be honest, there's too much of that crap floating around right now. Soon, the hammer will fall, so to speak...

You say you just got back into reading comics. So just sit back and enjoy the story, why don't you? Why's it gotta be all mercenary from the gate? Reading and collecting's different things, two different forms of enjoyment. I am fortunate enough to be able to do both to a certain extent. But I don't go ga-ga over rare artist appearances and whatnot; leave that for fools with more money than sense. The best investments in comics, and this has always been true, are first issues of characters. If you need to try your luck, do that. Everything else is a crapshoot.

I don't think all the tie-ins are worth it. They never are.... Just get the prelude (Illuminati) then follow the main Civil War books, not all the crossover issues of Avengers/X-Men/Iron Man etc.

Lately all the 2nd printings have different covers.
