I have been looking for job in USA for TWO years. Masters Degree in Public Relations and Bilingual...I've heard anything...from overqualified to nobody knows you...The few employers that give me some hope always make me wait for an answer for soooo long! Last year I waited around SIX months for a No from the Epilepsy Foundation in Maryland...I have been waiting for three months now for this Catholic organization in Washington...Is this normal? Should I give up?

A good thing to do is check with them maybe a couple of times a month. Then they don't forget you and they know you are really interested. Just call them and tell them who you are, when you turned in your application/resume and ask if the job is still open. If it is tell them you are still very interested and if it isn't tell them that you hope they will consider you for any future positions with their company/organization. Good luck! (-:

First of all, if you live in a different country, that's usually a red flag. And if by applying you mean you sent them a resume' then a lot of places wouldn't even consider someone out of the country. Most companies want someone living in this country and preferably the state in which you apply. If you really want to work in this country and don't live here, move here. Get whatever work you can while applying for positions. If you have an interview, I always ask at the end of the interview when they are going to make their decision. Then I call the company on that day and inquire if I don't hear from them. It's very tough to get a good job these days but I wish you the best of luck.

i wouldnt give up but i also wouldnt wait no 3 months for an answer. after 2 weeks id contact the employer and ask questions and if its still a "i dont know" then move on. if they get back to u before u find something else then good. but if not, oh well. dont give up though. put several applications and resumes out there at the same time. that way, ur not wasting ur time on just one.
