the main difference between the two are the type of people it effected.. First of all Charlie hit a lot of high income houses and the people evacuated (because they had a little common sense. Second, Charlie victims got back most all of their personal possessions (because they had insurance). Unlike the leeches of New Orleans that just sit around waiting for the 1'st of the month.

you insensitive jerk. First of all you had to live through the Hurricane like me. I used to live by the levee until I was 14. Plus money, race and class had to do with the devastation. YOu know when the Tsuanami hit they got water and food 1 day after. Then ppl had the nerve to call us refugees in our own country. I know for one being in the 12 the grade( all people in my family graduated from college and went to college). I went to the besy public school in New ORleans and one of the best in Louisiana; which we got millions of dollars in scholarships before the hurricane.Yes Florida had more Hurricane's but they didn't have one like New Orleans. First of all that is just the attitude that makes ppl think that we as New Orleanians are dumb. I had to stay behind because my mom wouldn't live my father and brother whom work for the New Orleans Sheriff Deputy which my father was a Lieutenant. it was mandatory for all emergency ppl to stay. I had the means to leave. You know why ppl was screaming about that s*** was that yaill ppl in Florida is used to having Hurricanes that barely blow your hair back. If you was in New Orleans like I was you would understand that a city that was 80% under water, over 1500 died and no help from anyone which might could have say ppl lives. SO you telling me with this ignorant comment that we should stop crying. You know when I stop crying??? That's when I was saved after being there for 4 days. How would you feel if you was 16 and thought you was going to die seeing ppl that was sick, pregnant etc. Crying you ignoramus was the end to a city that care forget. Racism was the beginning now it's the end.

I understand your frustration with the situation, the billions of dollars wasted that didn't help the situation.
However, many of those individuals did not have vehicles, or the wherewithall to leave, and in the ghetto, packing up and leaving may mean that your house is ransacked while you're gone, so if the storm passed over, you may have had nothing left to come home to.
I agree that we need to work to give a hand up, and stop the hand out. But this means that we have to get the government out of the saving business, and I don't see that happening too quick. In 1996 they passed welfare reform, and there are less poor people now than before, but it's hard to break 4 generations of welfare, when no one around you is working, and you're seen as the fool for bustin' butt for the same or less money than the people sitting around collecting benefits.

Hello it's because the leavies broke i knew it was a category 2 or 3 but you try telling that to the people who had to sit on threre roofs for hours, I experienced a flood this past summer and it was very scary i cant imagine what it was like to see dead bodies floating in the digusting water. Have you been to new orlean's? it was one of the best places to visit it had such an energy now the life is sucked out of it people still have to live in there cars. Most of them couldnt leave because they didn't have the money to or anywhere to go so don't tell people who have no place to live because there house was destroyed and lost everything they had and lost family to just get over it. and it wasnt just new orleans you know alabama and missippi we hit to and they have no place to live. I am sorry if you never learned that new orelans is below sea level because maybe you would understand why there is such devastation there.

First part of your information sounds like another Republicans language dance. What are they defining as land fall. Why don't we be more generous. When it hit PA it was Tropical Storm.
On CNN they were calling it between 4 and 6 because it picked up energy and rainfall from nearby system. The response was a joke. Try all the gimmicks you like you will never erase from peoples memories some of the video shown.
The whole concept of FEMA is to have assistance for extremely incompetent local officials., and not a Piggy Bank for Hallurburtain.
You prefer the labeling of lazy stupid fools.
I prefer to consider them unlucky folks that got caught between drawing and pit vipers. Don't know what community you live in, but mine and most around me would have offered them dry place to stay. They got guard dogs and armed guards making dam sure not one set foot in some areas. This person will NEVER spend cent in French Area or vote for corrupt redefiner or reality.

Are you dumb or retarded? The reason the Category three hurricane was more devasting was because it flooded the entire city since New Orleans is below sea level. Also, the levees were not strong enough to hold back the entire gulf of mexico you twit. You should be banned for such attacks on people who have suffered so much.

Yes, so really as it stands now, we know that it was not really the strength of the hurricane, but the levies were weak. Now they have been improved and are 20 feet tall instead of 13 feet. But, I feel they still need work done on them. If they failed once, they could again. More money needs to be placed in fixing and engineering a better structure.

Haha, category three, that's funny.
Do I need to show you the pictures of my yard- nowhere near water- that had trees- not branches, not saplings, but full grown pecan trees- ripped up by the roots?
And... for the (probably not) LAST time... Katrina was TOO BIG TO HIT ONE CITY! A lot of Mississippians were affected too. It doesn't look as bad because we didn't flood- we got wiped out. There were houses and buildings on most of those empty lots in Mississippi.

WOAH! Did you know Katrina caused more damage than Charlie? Did you know the storm surge in Mississippi reached SIXTY FEET? Were you here for Katrina? And the people of Mississippi have picked themselves up and we're rebuilding. We DID evacuate and come home to find the Gulf Coast of Mississippi destroyed...notice how we can't name one city...have to say COAST because there was that much damage.
Come compare this damage to Charlie and see who the weaker of the 2 really was.....

You seem to have forgotten one important fact. The heavily damaged parts of Louisiana were BELOW SEA LEVEL and protected only by a badly engineered sea walls around the city (which broke)
We, in Florida, are not.... While the hurricane here were stronger and larger, damages were mostly caused by wind and tornadoes. Because of our past, our building codes have been revised prior to the recent hurricanes.
While citizens of Louisiana bears the responsibility of helping themselves, YOU have no rights to criticize them in the manner you did.
