I've just installed diablo 2, but when I click to play it a window comes up and says to check to see if the play disk is in, and it is,and it keeps coming up. The disk worked when i was installing the game. Can anyone tell me whats going on and how to fix it.

Sometimes when installing a game, a file does not install properly. I'm not sure what caused this for you, probably the image of the file installs but not the program and your computer thinks it's there so it continues with the install, but when it comes time to use the file it can't, so you get the error message. The best thing to do is to uninstall your program, in this case Diablo 2, since you can't know for sure which of the files was corrupted.

This will remove it for sure. Then all you have to do is reinstall Diablo 2 and it should work. However make sure your disc is clean before you reinstall, as the most common reason for this problem is that the disc thought it read the file when it couldn't. smudges often cause this. That should fix your problem.

Your hardware isn't a problem. (Coincidentally, I run D2X on the same laptop when I travel, but we're here today to talk about your desktop.)

Make sure you download the latest drivers from ATI.

Also, you may want to run the video test provided with D2 to see if it comes up with any problems. I suspect you'll be running in Direct3D rather than DirectDraw, but give that a try if nothing else works.
Another suggestion is to try setting your display to 640x480, 256 colors before starting Diablo.
The only other problem I can think is that the opening movie sequence is streamed from the CD. You can copy all of the movies, as well as the music (doesn't spin up your cd drive when playing - less lag) to the D2 folder so that they are read from your hard drive. This would possibly indicate a problem with your CD drive.
I've seen some programs like Folding@Home mess with games, so you may want to try exiting every running program before starting D2.

before each little thing. in case you could get on your previous diablo stuff, reproduction the keep folder on your computer (its your singleplayer characters). *now uninstall *delete the former diablo 2 folder Now deploy the newest variations of directx and divx *re-deploy diablo 2 *flow the keep folder (it really is on your computer) on your diablo 2 folder. Thats commonly C:/application documents/Diablo 2 precise-click the Diablo 2 icon and flow to homes, there could be an element on between the tabs it really is for compatibility. set it for living house windows xp. Now it really is going to artwork fantastic.

Uninstalling and re-installing the game should help. Also, download the patch here: http://www.blizzard.com/patches/
