What is the difference between a VGA and a DVI cable. Just bought a computer and it has both and I need to know which one is better to use as the user guide just says pick one.

Yeah, that's right. DVI is the better option if your monitor and video card support it.

The video card's output stays completely digital all the way to the monitor when you use a DVI connection. This usually results in a better overall picture, especially when there's a lot of movement on the screen. The hardware doesn't have to fuss around with converting digital to analog then back to digital with DVI.

VGA is the 15 pin connector, the blue thing. it is a analog signal.
DVI is the Digital connector, the white thing. Totoally digital with normally will give you the better result.
