I am a wildlife biologist..but majored in zoology. You can probably do a zoology, biology, or wildlife studies major. You can work for the government, a non-profit, or an environmental consulting firm, or a zoo depending on major and experience. I mostly work with birds (nest searching and monitoring, breeding and winter bird surveys, banding birds) as I specailize in ornithology, but also work with reptiles, bats, and sometimes rodents as well.

Check out the state you live in.. Go to the job section on the state's webpage, and look for wildlife biology jobs. On the website if there are jobs avaiable they will tell you what kind of education is needed and how much it will pay. It is best to major in a general biology concentrating on a certain field(animals, plants,seashore...). You may also need to go on for a masters degree in a more specalized field( birds, insects, mammals, or wildflowers...) I also reccomend volunteering early early early . The more exerience you get the better off you will be at finding a job. Jobs with the state are hard to come by. I am curently trying to get a park ranger job in my state and am having a tuff time, with a little exerience and a college degree. Best of luck to you and Never give up on your dreams.

You can major in biology, ecology, or in wildlife biology. The type of courses that you take depend on where you go. How much you get paid depends on where you live, how much education you have (bachelors, MS, or PhD), and if you are working for the state, govt., or private organization.

Yes you do have to major in biology, and there are so many areas you can go into, you will have to be more specific. There are wildlife rehab centers, field studies, animal directors of zoos, teaching and conservation fields.

Go to school that offers a zoology or wildlife if possible. If not, take as many botany and zoology classes as you can. The money isn't great, but it is a fun profession.
