Very appropriate given that she is the greatest American born woman tennis player in history
grand slam singles : 12
"" "" " Doubles : 16
"" "" Mixed Doubles : 11
Now that is a very busy Grand Slam Player, To have that many singles titles coupled with such a brilliant doubles record.
Put that together with her off court work for tennis and the honour is richly deserved

I don't have anything against it, but at the same time while she did a lot for the sport, there have been so many other great American tennis players who have achieved even more.
Arthur Ashe only got a court named for him. I am not saying it's not a great thing. But to name the whole stadium should have been to someone who has achieved something nobody else has as of now, in the sport of tennis.
Billy Jean King brought equality to the sport, which is awesome.
But I would say Pete Sampras would have been a better bet, since no American has won more Grand Slams than him.

I think it's a wonderful idea. Billie Jean King did a lot to promote tennis and women's tennis. She got women more prize money on par with men, she got women their own tour -- separate from men. She fought chauvinsim wherever she found it. She was an outstanding player as well.

I think that she was very deserving, when you combine her record as a player with her role as a crusader that did so much for gender equality, both within and outside of tennis.
Chris Evert may have been her equal as a player (and maybe even better), but she did not have the overall reach of BJK. And, you can say the same about Connors, McEnroe, Sampras, Agassi, etc.

yeah nice, Most of the American legends(Agassi,Pete and Navratilova) are either playing or have retired recently.
Also,Navratilova is not even an American(born in Czechoslovakia)
