I am just about 38 weeks along in my pregnancy and I am having this constant pain in my lower abdomen and pelvic area. It's been there for 6 hours now and every time I move, whether it be standing up, sitting down or walking it feels worse. Has anyone else experienced this kind of discomfort? I saw my doctor today and he told me that nothing is going on with the baby but I have had these pains since I left his office.

it could be the babys head making you very uncomfortable , the baby usually goes into the position for birth around now just think it will be over soon and you will have your baby. I had this pain for a few weeks before i had my 2 babies. The head goes so far down i thought my whole insides were about to fall out . Hope that makes you feel better

did he do a pelvic exam? Did he strip your membranes? Both of these can cause discomfort. But in my experience late pregnancy is very uncomfortable. I had constant dull pain at the end with all three of my children. I think it was caused by the baby being sooooo low. Good luck. Taking a warm bath or going swimming usually helped me.

This could be the stat of labour if your worried then go up to the hospital or ring them and see what they suggest they might ask you to come up to be checked out specially if you didn't have the pains before you went to the doctor but now you do. If you ever have any concerns then its better to be safe then sorry, you don't want to realize your in labour when the baby is born at home so don't worry what the hospital thinks if you feel silly going up there to be checked again because this is your body and you need to listen to it, its telling you something you just don't understand what, you need to find out what its trying to tell you.

You probably pulled a muscle. I am 36 weeks pregnant and a few weeks ago this happened to me. It felt like everytime I did anything I was being stabbed in the same spot over and over and over. It went on for like an entire day. I called my doc and they said it was a pulled round ligament because of our muscles being stretched out already and wrong movement can pull a muscle and cause pain. As long as it isn't like coming and going like contractions I am sure that what it is.

is it to the right or left? not to sound silly but if it's centered or sometimes to the right or left it could be gas. Do you take prenatal vitamins? they tend to constipate just a bit. also, what have you eaten? (certain foods can cause gas as well). but sometimes if it's to the right or left quadrant then it could be an ovary pain. Our ovaries grow cists every month and then they usually bleed out. it could just be that, but i understand the alarm it may raise if you see blood. but you seem to be far enough along that if labor comes about you and your baby are safe.

Hi, It sounds like you could be labor my dear. You are far enough along and if you had a pelvic exam today that could have set it off. If you start showing a little blood or if your water breaks I would suggest you head to the hospital...sounds like you are about to become a "Mommy" Congrats to you and your family.
