I don't know. At first I think it would be shock and horror. Of couse a lot depends on what's been going on in the home previously. Did this 11 year old show signs of mental illness or violence or anything that could or should have tipped the mother off that something of this nature could happen? Or did it just come as a complete surprise? If there were signs, especially obvious signs I would think the mother would be feeling remorse and guilt. If not, she would probably be questioning herself, wondering if she missed something that would have warned her. She'd be grieving for the lost child. If it were my child and I had no idea that this would happen and it was because of some mental problem I would find help for my child and support her in her recovery. I don't know what kind of mixed emotions I would have over the years though. That's hard to say. Hopefully it won't be something most of us ever have to deal with.

I know I`d be devastated, with lots of mixed emotions, and would feel, and desparately hope that it were a nightmare , hoping to wake up soon! and I don`t know what else I could feel or do, and I hope to never have to find out what this horror is like. and pray for the many different "poor souls" who face this type of tragedy everyday!

that's sooo sad...I'm not sure how'd I'd feel we would need lots of counseling.....I know that that is still my child and like everything else that is a relationship you'd have to work at to keep it together
I will hope and pray that that family can work together and heal and find forgiveness in their hearts for all involved....

i'd be ashamed of her, but it just tells you that she has some "problems" and insucurities. so i'd talk to her a lot and try to figure out why she did what she did. but i'd still treat her with respect.
