The world has undergone a plethora of natural disasters over the milleniums,( i.e.,earthquakes,volcanos, floods). The tectonic plates clearly show how the land of the earth (and water) have been broken apart, moved around and changed.
How do we even know for certain that the location of "Israel" when first defined as the "Promised Land" is indeed the same land that the Jews embrace so fervently today?
(This is a serious question. Not at all anti-semitic. With all due respect, please treat it as such.)

The other side of that question would be, how do we know it isn't? I don't know how they know it is, but I've read that they still know where a lot of the old monuments, graves and wells and other historical places are over there, so I would assume that they can figure it out by that. I've also read an article and seen the accompanying photos of old Jerusalem that is literally underneath the Jerusalem of today. Since Jerusalem has been the most - or at least I believe it has been the most significant religious center for the Jewish people and Jerusalem still exists today in Israel, that would be a deciding factor. I have to tell you though, that I'm no expert on this subject, I'm just voicing the thoughts that came about because of your question. And it's an interesting question. I look forward to seeing the other answers. (-:

The UN Partition Plan of 1947 offered by the UN gave a tiny portion of land to Israel, the remainder to the Arabs and declared Jerusalem an open city this as the plan before it was rejected by the Arabs and on May 14, 1948---2500 years after Babylon captured Jerusalem and the destoryed the First Temple, 1, 878 years after the Romans destoryed Jerusalem and the Second Temple and scattered the jews to the four corners of the earth the nation of Israel was born.
Under this 1947 UN Partition plan a tiny sliver of land along the coast to Israel, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to the Arabs, the very next day on May 15, 1948 five well equipped Muslim armies attacked the tiny new State of Israel from all sides, the British trained and equipped Arabs that numbered more than 650,000 men were equipped with the most modern of weapons and air power of the time the jews on the other hand had only 45,000 troops mostly guerrilla fighters, they had little to defend themselves with the total estimated armament was 10,500 rifles, 3,500 light sub machine guns, 34 3 inch mortars, 775 light machine guns, 670 two-inch motars and ammunition for only three days fighting yet the jews managed to control all the land set aside for them by the original Mandate plus half the city of Jerusalem and the Arabs withdrew. So for a force so small to win with the weapons that they had against a superior force with modern weapons the only question is how was it done and when you get the answer to that then you realize that the jew is in his homeland given him by the Lord almighty and he will not be set from it again all you have to do is read the book of Revelation to understand whose land it is and why they shall not be driven from it again.

Because Jerusalem is a very old city that has been under the rule of many different people. It is the same city that was the capital of Israel in ancient times. Jerusalem hasn't ever changed location. The Jews were scattered across the face of the earth by their enemies and the nation of Israel didn't exist for almost 2,000 years. However, once the Jews were persecuted in Europe, they decided they wanted a homeland again. Therefore, it is logical that when the Jews were looking for a homeland that they would want to return to the original one. Landmarks from 2,000 years ago when the New Testament was written have changed slightly but drastic changes take longer than that unless a natural disaster occured. The Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, and many other landmarks haven't changed. Therefore, we know that the Jews have returned to their original nation. They currently occupy a much smaller landmass than they originally occupied. Israel today is tiny compared to 2,000 years ago.

Oh, and don't forget, the UN didn't just give the land to Israel. Israel also had to fight for it. They fought during the 6 day war and have been fighting on and off ever since to keep their homeland. Not everyone is happy about that but I do think that Jews have a right to have their own country.

Because there religion says this were where the Israelite's fled to from Egypt. (there is not one piece of artifact the supports this). And the tectonic plates have nothing to do with it because it was before humans were present. Religion has always had a problem with facts. It was "Promised" by the USA and UK. It was before the UN.

And as for the Arabs that already lived there.---Well to bad get steppin bitches. That's why they hate Israel. Only Gaza sucessfully defended its self aginst the land grab and became an island inside isreal during the 7 days war.

USA and UK knew that the arab countries would never stand for the land being stolen away after ww2 so they continued to occupy isreal for 10 years. The 7 days war started the day they pulled out. Isreal's superior weapons (the one usa gave them) defeated the arab attackers and isreal expanded there size 200%. Thus srealing more land from the arabs.

Bottom line, it was never jewish land.
