Isn't Mr. Bush spending like ten times what any other Pres. has in history? (No, I'm not sure - I don't really follow gov't money.)
I'd be very surprised if that were true of Clinton - I just don't see how it is in any way possible for this gov't to be "efficient". And "efficient" is what it would take. It's like there are too many mouths at the table, and no real cookie jar to get any hands stuck in.
No I don't think we "WILL."
God help our children when they become slaves.

The debt has never been paid off before, why start now?? Country has had a deficit for more than 100 years.
Edit--I think many of you on this site don't understand what Clinton's surplus was...it was that the gov't a couple years made money for only a couple of years....we still had a deficit it's just that we were starting to pay it off....of course Savings Bonds during this time (part of deficit) were about worthless.

Our economy is ruined for the next decade at least. In the past 5 years, USA went from record surplus to record debt. The next president will inherit a real mess.

Absolutely. I'll just put it on my credit card and we won't have to worry about it ever again.
