Pants, long skirt, or a long dress to help keep your legs warm. Since it's going to be chilly, take a wrap or jacket along if your top is short sleeves or sleeveless.
You could always call and ask the bride if you aren't sure about dress code. She could give you some hints on how formal it is going to be.
If you don't have a way to contact anyone involved, the bride, groom, bride's parents, etc... Then just take a guess at formality from the time and invitation. A less formal invitation (no fancy engravings) and/or an earlier time can indicate a less formal wedding. If the invitation is fancy, and/or the time is later in the day, then it's a more formal affair.
Informal Daytime: Short dress or suit (business attire OK for morning weddings)
Informal Evening: Cocktail dress
Semi-Formal Daytime: Short dress or suit
Semi-formal Evening: Cocktail dress
Formal Daytime: Short dress or suit. Hats and gloves optional.
Formal Evening or Black-Tie: Long or dressy short cocktail (beading, glam accessories, wrap)
Ultra-formal or White Tie: Long gown, extra glitz (furs, diamonds, etc.)
Since it's outside, I would guess it's a more of an informal to semi-formal look. Try to find something in between, like a nice pair of slacks with a really pretty top. Cocktail attire might be a good guide since it's a dressy, but not formal style.

Tweed pants in brown or greyish, silk top covered by a cute trench coat or cardigan that matches, heels (not too high). Chandelier earrings. If you prefer a skirt to pants, wear black or black lace tights underneath, so ur not too summery. (i'm not sure where u live, because where i live its pretty cold at the end of sept)

Dress slacks with a jacket or skirt, or a nice long dress would be appropriate, and/or incorporate a shawl wrap into your outfit, if the weather will be cool, with a dress. You don't want to over due it, by out shining the bride. Have a good time!

A light grey suit with a pretty tank top underneath or a nice light summer dress with a cardigan, or a knee length skirt and a white shirt. I would go with lighter colors.

i agree, gauchos are nice and comfortable, and they look "casual elegant". . . hehe, does that make sense?
