Corollas are actually made in Gardena, California, but anyways, they have to pay the taxes like everyone else. They have to pay to get all the stuff here. There is an import tax. All of the Japanese automakers are coming to the United States and they are not taking away jobs. They are creating hundreds of jobs for people. Nissan just built a plant in Tennessee to raise the economy there, so my answer is no, it is not unamerican. Last time I checked a lot of Fords and Chevys were made in Canada.
Since I can't answer again, I believe also in the big three all of the Chrysler profit goes to Europe, since they are owned by Daimler. And as for American cars being better and that is all media hype, then why is GM going bankrupt and why are they asking Nissan/Renault for help? If you want to stick to all American, then Ford is the only true way to go. Give it some time, they will fall just like the rest. I had family in WW II also, but that wasn't me, I wasn't there, ish happens.

Thirty years ago your question would make sense. Now it doesn't matter. If you buy Toyota where does the money go? Factory workers in Ohio, salesmen in your town, the dealers, and parts makers around the world-- the profit goes to Japan- period.
If you buy a Chevy lets follow the money- the factory workers are going to be in Canada, the US, or Mexico, salesman in your town, the dealers, parts makers in Canada, the US, or Mexico. Maybe your whole car was made in Mexico, or Canada. The profit goes to Michigan.
What's the difference?
If you buy a Chevy the unions get a bigger cut.
If you buy Toyota the unions get a smaller cut.
If you buy a Chevy politicians in Democrat states get more money.
If you buy a Toyota politicians are going to get money anyway, but Toyota stays away from big union stronghold states.
Being American, just ain't as American as it used to be.

what the hell does unamerican mean?
Toyota HQ is in Japan, they make cars all voer the world.
The profits dont jsut go back overseas or to Japan, they go to anyone who has shares in the company, and many americans do. Toyota is a internationally publically traded company.
Same thing with Ford, there are people who are not american who have shares with Ford, and some of the profit goes to them.

everyone that believes that the japaneese build better cars than the big three are media brainwashed, it used to be true but not anymore, go drive an american car and see for yourself. Everytime you buy a toyota, honda, etc. you are giving money to a foreign goverment in the long run even though they are built here. It's time for americans to waken up!

1. All profits go back to Japan.
2. They don't have to mess around with the auto worker unions, so they get by with paying about half of what American companies have to pay their workers, especially since they build plants in the south, where they can get by with paying less.
3. Toyota sucks.

No, it's the smart choice. And since many Toyotas are made here in the USA, it's just as American as a Chevy.

"they're made right here!" ha, terrorists have camps here, too, are they american as apple pie? hardly. they may be building the cars here, but the money still goes back to japan. the metals are shipped in from japan, as are most of the parts. with GM, Ford and DC, the steel is forged here, and assembled. so if you ask me, yes, toyota is unamerican, stick w/ the big three, whose quality is triple what it was 10 years ago.

i say yes. heres why. yes they are made here, but in the end, the profit goes back to japan. i am 100% American. and try not to patronize the japanese economy. check import reports, taxes, tariffs, ect. not just cars, all imported and exported items. i have family that died in world war II. how soon we forget. for instance say suddam huesein is somehow found not guilty or forgiven, if they started building cars 20 yrs later would it be ok to buy from them? it sounds radical i know, but we must think of our childrens future. not another country that if we are not careful, we will depend totally on. this country was founded on strength and reliability, not dependant on someone else.
